INES-Ruhengeri and the University of Parma Strengthen Bilateral Academic Cooperation

On May 21, 2025, a delegation from INES-Ruhengeri, led by the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jean Bosco Baribeshya, was received by the Rector of the University of Parma. The delegation also included Dr. Theodore Habimana, Head of the Computer Science Department at INES-Ruhengeri. The meeting was attended by Professor Paolo Ciampolini and Professor Roberto Valentino from the University of Parma.

The discussions took place in a cordial and enthusiastic atmosphere, reflecting the strong and growing partnership between the two institutions. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration, which includes staff and student exchange programs, as well as opportunities for INES-Ruhengeri academic staff to pursue postgraduate studies (Master’s and Ph.D.) at the University of Parma. Additionally, the two institutions are jointly engaged in a range of research and development initiatives in partnership with other universities from Rwanda and Europe.

During the meeting, both university leaders reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening this collaboration. The Rector of the University of Parma expressed his intention to visit Rwanda in the near future, a gesture warmly welcomed by his counterpart, who acknowledged and appreciated the University of Parma’s continued support.

The INES-Ruhengeri delegation is currently undertaking a three-week academic mobility mission in Europe under the framework of the Erasmus+ programme. As part of this initiative, the Vice Chancellor is visiting several European partner institutions to reinforce existing collaborations and explore new areas of cooperation. Meanwhile, Dr. Theodore Habimana is engaged in academic and research activities at the University of Parma, specifically within the framework of the GREATER Project, hosted by the Department of Engineering and Architecture.
