On 1st May 2025, during the International Labour Day celebration held at the INES-Ruhengeri campus, the university community came together to recognise and reward two outstanding staff members for their exceptional performance and dedication to service.
The awards were presented as part of a larger institutional reflection
on the value of work and the people who power the university’s mission. Staff
members participated in a democratic voting process to select the most
deserving colleagues in both academic and administrative categories,
reinforcing the spirit of appreciation and accountability.
Dr HABYARIMANA Thierry, Dean of the Faculty of
Health Sciences, was named Best Academic Employee of the Year for his
leadership and commitment to expanding healthcare education at INES through the
successful launch of six new academic programmes. His work has significantly
contributed to the university’s goal of producing competent professionals in
Rwanda’s health sector.
Mr GASIRABO Evariste, Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Vice
Chancellor for ACademics and Research (DVCAR) was awarded Best Administrative
Employee of the Year for his unwavering professionalism, reliability, and
collaborative support within the university’s administrative systems.
These honours are not only acknowledgements of individual excellence, but also a celebration of INES-Ruhengeri’s broader commitment to fostering a work culture rooted in purpose, service, and shared success. The Labour Day awards serve as an annual reminder that behind every achievement are individuals who consistently give their best with students always at the centre of their efforts.
