Supported to Succeed: Vanessa and Pascaline Continue Their Academic Journey at INES-Ruhengeri

18 September 2026

For Vanessa Uwiduhaye, a Year II student pursuing Statistics Applied to Economy, and Pascaline Isubize, a Year II student in Computer Science at INES-Ruhengeri, the journey through higher education is a story of perseverance, opportunity and continued academic progress.

Their university experience has unfolded alongside social and personal challenges. However, with continued determination and the support they receive through the Inclusive Education Project, the two students are able to remain focused on their studies and continue working toward their academic and professional aspirations.

The project, implemented through the Young Women Christian Association of Rwanda, provides sponsorship and support aimed at helping students overcome barriers to education and successfully continue their studies.

Turning Challenges into Progress

For Vanessa, continuing her studies at INES-Ruhengeri represents an important step forward after difficult experiences in her past.

“Despite all the hard life I passed through in the past days, I am good at INES-Ruhengeri and I really appreciate the support we get from partners and sponsors,” Vanessa says.

Her experience reflects the importance of sustained support throughout a student's academic journey. Rather than simply providing access to university, sponsorship can help students remain in education, concentrate on their studies and continue progressing toward graduation.

Pascaline is also continuing her academic journey in Computer Science, developing knowledge and skills that can contribute to her future career. Together, their experiences demonstrate how students can continue pursuing their ambitions when they receive the encouragement and resources needed to stay on course.

The Impact of Continued Sponsorship

The support provided through the Inclusive Education Project is contributing to the students' ability to continue their university education despite the challenges they encounter beyond the classroom.

For Vanessa and Pascaline, sponsorship is more than financial assistance. It represents an opportunity to remain connected to their education, participate in university life and continue building the skills and knowledge needed for their future.

Their journeys also highlight the value of collaboration between higher education institutions, partners and sponsors in creating more inclusive opportunities for students.

Now in their second year, Vanessa and Pascaline continue to look ahead with determination. Their academic journeys are still ongoing, but each semester represents another step toward their goals.

At INES-Ruhengeri, their stories are a reminder that student success is not only about reaching the university gates. It is also about creating the conditions that enable students to stay, learn, grow and succeed.

Through inclusive education initiatives and continued support from partners and sponsors, students like Vanessa and Pascaline are being empowered to pursue their education and keep moving toward a future shaped by their own ambitions.

Their journey continues—and so does their pursuit of academic success.
