IUCEA Assesses INES-Ruhengeri's Capacity to Host EAC Postgraduate Scholarship Beneficiaries

On 17th June 2026, INES-Ruhengeri welcomed a delegation from the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) for a physical assessment visit conducted as part of the evaluation process for participation in the East African Community (EAC) Scholarship Programme.

The assessment followed an open call issued by IUCEA to eligible higher education institutions across the East African Community, inviting them to express interest in hosting postgraduate scholarship beneficiaries under the programme.

During the visit, the assessment team evaluated the University's institutional capacity to support postgraduate students, with particular focus on academic infrastructure, learning resources, research facilities, quality assurance systems, student welfare services, grievance handling mechanisms, and administrative arrangements necessary for successful completion of studies.

The delegation also examined the University's research environment, academic support structures, and innovative approaches that enhance teaching, learning, research, and community engagement.

The visiting team commended INES-Ruhengeri for its modern facilities, strong academic systems, and commitment to providing a conducive environment for postgraduate education and research. The assessment highlighted the University's readiness and capacity to support scholarship beneficiaries and contribute to the advancement of higher education within the East African Community.
