On 21 February 2026, members of the INES-Ruhengeri Pan-African Movement conducted an educational visit to the Campaign Against Genocide Museum. The visit was organized as part of the Movement’s ongoing commitment to promoting unity, truth, and African solidarity.
The Campaign Against Genocide Museum preserves the history of Rwanda’s liberation struggle to stop the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. During the visit, students were guided through historical exhibitions that document the resistance efforts, the bravery of those who fought to save lives, and the critical role of leadership in restoring hope and national unity.
The educational tour provided students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Rwanda’s history, particularly the events surrounding the genocide and the campaign that brought it to an end. Through documented testimonies, photographs, and archival materials, students gained insight into the importance of responsible leadership, resilience, and collective action in preventing genocide ideology.
Speaking after the visit, members of the Pan-African Movement emphasized that education remains the strongest tool in combating divisionism and genocide ideology. They highlighted the importance of young people taking an active role in safeguarding truth, promoting unity, and strengthening African solidarity.
The visit not only enriched students’ historical knowledge but also reinforced INES-Ruhengeri’s mission of nurturing responsible citizens committed to peace, critical thinking, and sustainable development.
INES-Ruhengeri continues to encourage experiential learning opportunities that connect academic knowledge with historical awareness and civic responsibility.
The Pan-African Movement at INES-Ruhengeri is composed of both local and international students who have committed themselves to raising their voices in advancing the mission of the Pan-African Movement (PAM) within the institution and beyond. United by shared values of unity, dignity, truth, and African solidarity, these students actively engage in educational and civic initiatives that promote historical awareness, responsible leadership, and the fight against genocide ideology.
