On 11th February 2026, the academic community of INES Ruhengeri had the honor of hosting a distinguished team from the High Court of Rwanda for an insightful presentation on corruption and its impact on society.
The session, held on campus, brought together students and staff members, with particularly strong participation from the Department of Law. The event aimed to deepen understanding of corruption-related offenses, their legal implications, and the vital role that legal institutions play in promoting transparency and justice in Rwanda.
During the presentation, members of the High Court team provided an in-depth overview of corruption, explaining its various forms, causes, and consequences. They emphasized how corruption undermines the rule of law, weakens public trust in institutions, and hinders national development. Through practical examples and real-life case insights, the team illustrated how the judiciary addresses corruption cases within the framework of Rwandan law.
The speakers also highlighted the importance of ethical conduct among future professionals, especially law students who will play a key role in upholding justice. They encouraged students to embrace integrity, accountability, and professionalism as core values in their academic journey and future careers.
The session was highly interactive, allowing students and staff to ask questions and engage directly with the High Court representatives. Discussions focused on preventive measures against corruption, legal procedures in corruption cases, and the role of young professionals in building a corruption-free society.
Students from the Department of Law expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn directly from judicial practitioners. The session provided them with practical knowledge that complements their academic studies and strengthens their understanding of Rwanda’s legal system.
The visit reflects the strong collaboration between INES Ruhengeri and national institutions committed to promoting good governance and legal excellence. Such engagements bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering students real-world perspectives from experienced professionals.
INES Ruhengeri remains committed to organizing educational events that foster critical thinking, ethical awareness, and civic responsibility among its students.
