INES-Ruhengeri has taken a major step forward in advancing practical education with the official groundbreaking of a Modern Digital Hub for Laboratories, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance hands-on training, research, and innovation.
The ceremony that took place today April 1st, at INES Ruhengeri, was presided over by His Lordship Vincent Harolimana, Bishop of the Ruhengeri Catholic Diocese and Chancellor of INES-Ruhengeri, in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Fr. Dr. Jean Bosco Baribeshya, members of the university leadership, staff, and students.

This strategic project reflects the institution’s continued commitment
to bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world application. The
Digital Hub will serve as a cornerstone for delivering competency-based
education and equipping students with practical, market-relevant skills.
Strategic Vision for
Sustainable Growth
During the ceremony, Bishop Vincent Harolimana emphasized the importance
of aligning infrastructure development with the university’s long-term vision:
“The number of INES-Ruhengeri students is growing rapidly. Our actions
must reflect this reality. We need a well-structured master plan that provides
sustainable solutions for the future of our students and the institution,” he
noted.
The Digital Hub is designed not only as a modern learning facility but also as a strategic investment in the future of science and technology education at INES-Ruhengeri.

Enhancing Impact Beyond
Campus
The project is expected to generate far-reaching benefits for both the
university community and the wider region:
Construction of the Digital Hub commence immediately today, with the first phase of laboratory facilities expected to be operational in the coming academic cycles. This initiative builds on recent developments at INES-Ruhengeri, including the expansion of health science programs and strengthened international partnerships.
