Over the years, the Environmental Club has played an important role in preserving the natural beauty of the campus through environmental conservation activities, cleanliness campaigns, and awareness initiatives that encourage students and staff to protect nature. The club’s efforts continue to contribute to making the campus one of the most attractive and conducive places for learning and teaching.

The newly planted tree species are expected to strengthen the campus ecosystem, improve air quality, and preserve the green environment that supports the well-being of the university community. Through such initiatives, the club continues to promote environmental responsibility among students while reinforcing the institution’s vision of sustainability.
The activity was followed by a handover ceremony between the outgoing and incoming student committees of the Environmental Club. The ceremony was attended by the Vice Chancellor, who commended the club for its remarkable contribution to the wellness and attractiveness of the campus.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility and noted that the green nature of INES Ruhengeri contributes greatly to creating a peaceful and favorable atmosphere for academic activities. He encouraged the Environmental Club to continue reinforcing initiatives that maintain the campus environment and inspire the university community to protect nature.

Dr. Clémence Idukunda, lecturer and mentor of the club, appreciated the dedication and efforts of the outgoing student committee in promoting environmental conservation on campus. She also encouraged the newly elected committee to maintain the momentum by introducing more initiatives that support sustainability and preserve the natural environment of the institution.
The event once again highlighted the significant role played by the Environmental Club in enhancing campus wellness and creating a greener environment that supports effective learning and teaching at INES Ruhengeri.
