The training focused on equipping students with practical skills in software development using modern technologies such as Swift, SwiftUI, and Xcode. The initiative aimed at strengthening students’ digital competencies and preparing them for the evolving demands of the technology industry.

An INES-Ruhengeri student explains his software development project to delegates from Ministry of ICT and GIZ
The first cohort mainly involved students from the Software Engineering option within the Department of Computer Science programs at INES-Ruhengeri. The institution noted that future cohorts will also include students from other academic programs to expand access to digital and programming skills across the university.
Through the certification, students gained valuable competencies that will support their professional growth and career readiness. The certificate enhances students’ digital skills profile, prepares them for future international certification pathways, and increases opportunities in software development, innovation, internships, and entrepreneurship.
The initiative was implemented at INES-Ruhengeri through the support and collaboration of Ministry of ICT and Innovation and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), leveraging Apple learning frameworks and Swift training resources under the Apple Authorized Training Center for Education (AATCe) initiative.
The training reflects INES-Ruhengeri’s continued commitment to advancing technology education and equipping students with industry-relevant skills that contribute to innovation and digital transformation.
