HEC Visits INES-Ruhengeri to Review Institutional Academic Performance

Musanze, 27 August 2026 — INES-Ruhengeri welcomed a delegation from the Higher Education Council (HEC) as part of an outreach program aimed at reviewing institutional academic performance across different areas and strengthening engagement with higher learning institutions.

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Vice Chancellor, Fr. Dr. Jean Bosco Baribeshya, who led the team on a tour of the campus. The tour provided an opportunity to explore key teaching and learning facilities, including the Skills Lab, laboratories, hostels, and other academic infrastructure that support teaching, learning, and student development at INES-Ruhengeri.

The campus tour was followed by open discussions that brought together HEC officials, staff, and students. The engagement provided a platform for participants to learn more about HEC’s Strategic Plan and its vision of empowering education to generate greater social impact.

During the engagement, the Director General of HEC appreciated the contribution of INES-Ruhengeri, as an Institute of Applied Sciences, to the development of Rwanda’s higher education sector. The recognition highlighted the institution’s role in providing applied and relevant education that contributes to national development.

Dr. Edward Kadozi, Director General of the Higher Education Council (HEC), appreciated the contribution and work of INES-Ruhengeri in advancing Rwanda’s higher education sector.

Speaking during the engagement, Fr. Dr. Jean Bosco Baribeshya, Vice Chancellor of INES-Ruhengeri, welcomed the outreach initiative and emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between HEC and INES-Ruhengeri.

He noted that continued engagement and collaboration between the two institutions are essential for achieving effective, sustainable, and impactful results in higher education.

The visit reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between regulatory bodies and higher learning institutions in promoting quality education, continuous institutional improvement, and greater social impact in Rwanda.
