Dr. Eng. Vincent HARELIMANA holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering) from Hohai University, Nanjing, China (2024). He earned a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering) from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China (2013), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching in Higher Learning Institutions from the University of Rwanda (2016). He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Environmental Technology at the University of Rwanda (formerly KIST) in 2011.

He has extensive academic experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Engineering Geology, Soil Mechanics, Rock Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, and Ground Investigation at several higher learning institutions in Rwanda, including the University of Rwanda, INES-Ruhengeri, Rwanda Polytechnic, and Kigali Independent University. He also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

Dr. Eng. Vincent HARELIMANA’s research and publications address key areas of geotechnical and civil engineering, including ground improvement techniques, composite and retaining structure design, highway and transportation engineering, concrete improvement studies, construction project management, and environmental engineering.

Professional Expertise and Technical Competencies:
Dr. Eng. Vincent HARELIMANA is a recognized expert in geotechnical and civil engineering practices, with strong professional competence in site investigation and soil characterization; foundation design and selection based on soil bearing capacity; ground improvement methods for soft soils; slope stability analysis and landslide mitigation techniques; and technical assessment and advisory services for existing engineering structures. He provides engineering consultancy and technical advice for infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, sustainability, and compliance with engineering standards.

His current research interests focus on landslides and slope stability analysis, soft ground improvement, and the design of composite retaining structures.
